Srini is an Indian film director and actor who mainly works in the Kannada film industry. Although he is known by the name Srini, his full name is Madihalli Gopalakrishna Srinivas. He made hisdirectorial debut with the 2013 Upendra-starrer ‘Topiwala’, and made his acting debut in the 2017 film ‘Srinivas Kalyan’.
Srini rose to fame as an RJ by hosting the 93.5 Red FM-broadcasted show ‘Blade Raja’. The film ‘Simply Kailawesom’ in which he starred is based on the life and literary works of the famous Kannada writer T. P. Kailasam.

He did his secondary education from Presidency School, Bengaluru and completed his B.Sc. from Seshadripuram College. He had a deep interest in acting since his student days. He has also worked as a background dancer in various shows. In 2007, he started working as an RJ at 93.5 Red FM. His morning prime time show ‘Blade Raja’ became very popular in a short time due to his skills.
He married journalist Shruti IL on 30 June 2019 in Mysore
Career
Besides working in radio, he made his first short comedy film ‘Rules’, which was screened at the Australian Film Festival Bollywood_&_Beyond.
Along with directing, he took acting training from Abhinav Tarang to gain more sophistication in acting. Then he made his second short film of his career, ‘Simply Kailasom‘. The film won the Remy Award at the Houston Film Festival. As a result, Srinivas’s path to contact superstar Upendra was made easier. He then made the movie ‘Topiwala’ starring Upendra and received a huge response.
Srini directed the romantic comedy film ‘Srinivas Kalyan’, produced by Jain India, which was originally produced under Mars Films. Srini herself played the lead role in the film and made her debut as an actor. Although Srini was first seen as an actor in the movie ‘Just Math Mathallite’ directed by Sudeep. Deccan Chronicle gave the film ‘Srinivasa Kalyan’ a 3/5 rating while Times of India gave it a rating of 3.5/5.
He next ventured into the 3-part crime thriller film ‘Birbal Trilogy‘, the first part of which, Case-1, was released in January 2019. His next directorial film ‘Old Monk’ was released in Kannada and Telugu on 25 February 2022. The film’s title was inspired by a popular alcoholic beverage brand, which means “Hole Monk”.
He also directed and co-directed the action heist thriller film ‘Ghost’, which was produced by Sandesh Nagaraj under the banner of Sandesh Productions. The film was released in theatres on 19 October 2023. The film received largely positive reviews from critics.
