Personal Life
Janhvi Kapoor was born in 6 March, 1997 to a film family, to actress Sridevi and director Boney Kapoor. She is the niece of actors Anil and Sanjay Kapoor. Actress Khushi Kapoor is her younger sister. Actors Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor are her half-siblings from her father’s first wife. Janhvi did her primary and secondary education from Ecole Mondiale World School. She then took a course in acting from the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in California. Sridevi died in a drowning accident in Dubai when Janhvi was 20 years old.

2018 – 2022
Janhvi made her film debut in 2018 with Shashank Khaitan’s ‘Dhadak‘. The film saw her play the role of a high-class girl opposite Ishaan Khattar. Her first film grossed around 1.1 billion dollars. She later won the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut. A year later in 2020, the actress was seen on screen again in Akhtar’s Netflix horror anthology ‘Ghost Stories’. The same year, she played the title role of Gunjan Saxena in ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’. Although the movie was not released due to Covid-19, it was instead streamed on Netflix. To work in this film, Janhvi had to learn the body language of an Air Force officer and undergo training in flying. The actress was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her acting skills.
In 2021, Janhvi worked in the comedy horror movie ‘Roohi’. But despite her good performance, the movie did not do well. The next year, in 2022, she worked in ‘Good Luck Jerry’, a remake of the 2018 Tamil movie ‘Kolammavu Kokilar’, where she played the role of a young woman trapped in a freezer. Although the film was not initially released due to Covid-19, it was later released on streaming platforms Disney and Hotstar at the same time and was a commercial success.
2023 – Present
In 2023, the actress worked with Varun Dhawan in the romantic drama ‘Nitesh Tiwari Bawal‘. The drama was released digitally on Amazon Prime Video. In 2024, Janhvi had 3 films released. Among them were ‘Mr. and Mrs. Mahi’ with Rajkummar Rao, the political thriller movie ‘Ulaaz’ where she played the role of a young woman who dissents against the government, and finally, in the movie ‘Debra: Part 1’, she played a brief role opposite A. N. T. Rama Rao Jr. ‘Debra: Part 1’ became a commercial success, earning 59 million US dollars. In 2025, she acted in Kapoor Neeraj Ghaywan’s film ‘Homebound’. This year, she is reported to be acting in the action movie ‘Peddi’ and the movie ‘Param Sundari’ opposite Sidharth Malhotra.
