Aditi was born on 6 July 1997 in Tamil Nadu, India to filmmaker S. Shankar. She has an elder sister, Aishwarya Shankar, and a younger brother, Arijit Shankar. She graduated in medicine from Sri Ramachandra University in Tamil Nadu. She pursued her interest in acting and started acting after completing her graduation.
The movie ‘Viruman’ was a turning point in Aditi’s career, she said, “I can never deny my opportunities and success”.
Before the film’s release, actress and model Aathmika started criticizing Aditi and said, “It’s good to see the privileged moving up the ladder easily compared to others”. Aathmika also said, “Aditi is lucky to have entered the film industry only because of her father”. Aditi responded to this criticism with her performance and success
Filmy Career
Aditi is not only an actress but also a singer. She has worked as a playback singer in some movies. Among them, she made her debut as a playback singer in the song ‘Romeo and Juliet’ from the Telugu movie ‘Ghani’. She made her acting debut in the movie ‘Viruman‘ in 2022, playing the lead role with Karthik. She sang the song ‘Madura Veeran’ in her own voice in this movie. The movie was a super hit at the box office and her performance was also eye-catching.
Director Maddon Ashwin signed her for his second movie ‘Maviran’ in 2022 and the movie was released in 2023. Where she worked opposite Sivakarthikeyan. Like the first movie, it was also a hit and she received positive reviews for her good performance. A critic wrote, “Director Shankar’s daughter Aditi Shankar does the job given to her beautifully. She gives a nice, measured performance as Neela, a sub-editor who falls in love with the cartoonist”.
Director Vishnuvardhan signed Aditi in 2023 to play the lead opposite newcomer Akash for his film ‘Nesippaya‘. The film was released in 2024 and did average business at the box office. Bhuvanesh Chander of The Hindu wrote, “Nesippaya could have been more than ordinary; it simply confuses you about what kind of film it wants to be. The thriller that follows is bland, predictable and simply fantastic.”
In 2024, she paired up with Arjun Das in a romantic film titled ‘Once More’ directed by Vignesh Sivan. The film is still in the process of being shot and is scheduled to release in early 2025. In 2025, she made her debut in the Telugu film industry with the film ‘Bhairavam’. In the film, she played the female lead opposite Bellamkonda Srinivas.
