Early Life Details
Mrinal Thakur was born on 1 August 1992 in a Marathi-speaking family in Dhule, Maharashtra. He completed his primary education from St. Joseph’s Convent School, Jalgaon and his secondary education from Vasant Vihar High School, Mumbai. He then enrolled in KC College for his graduation, but instead of pursuing his studies, he pursued a career in television.
Career
Television Career (2012–2016)
While in college, she acted in the Star Plus serial ‘Mujhse Kuch Kehti…Yeh Khamoshiyan’. The show ran for 1 year from 2012 to 2013. In 2013, she worked in the mystery thriller ‘Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek – Arjun’. Later in 2014, she was selected for another serial ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ and worked continuously till 2016. In the same year, she performed a dance in a special episode of &TV’s show Saubhagyalakshmi as well as making a guest appearance in Tuyul & Mbak Yul Reborn. She retired from TV shows after acting in the Indonesian serial ‘Nadine’.
Hindi films (2014–2021)
Mrinal Thakur made her acting debut in 2014 with the Marathi film ‘Hello Nandan‘. She later acted in the film ‘Vitti Dandu’. Both films were released in 2014. In her next Marathi film ‘Surajya’, she played the role of Dr. Swapna.
Mrinal got a chance to work in a Hindi film for the first time in 2016 and worked in the film ‘Love Sonia’. The film was released 2 years later in 2018 but failed at the domestic box office. She made her Bollywood debut in 2019 with Vikas Bahl’s biographical drama ‘Super 30’. The film became the highest-grossing film of that year. In the same year, she acted in the film ‘Batla House’ directed by Nikhil Advani, based on the 2008 ‘Batla House encounter’ case. The film grossed ₹1.11 billion worldwide, which is around 13 million in US dollars.
In 2020, she starred as Ira in the 4-part Netflix horror film ‘Ghost Stories’. In the same year, she worked with Abraham in the movie ‘Gallan Goriya’. The sports drama ‘Toofan’ starring her was released in 2021 under the direction of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. In the same year, she worked with Karthik Aryan in the action thriller ‘Dhamaka’ directed by Ram Madhvani. In the same year, she acted in Badshah’s ‘Bad Boy x Bad Girl’ and Guru Randhawa’s music video ‘Aayse Na Choro’.
Telegu films (2022-Present)
In 2019, he acted in the Telugu sports drama ‘Jersey’, which was released in 2022. In 2022, Mrinal made her debut opposite Dulquer Salmaan in Hanu Raghavpudi’s period romantic drama ‘Sita Ramam’. In 2023, Mrinal Thakur had 5 films released, 4 of which were Hindi and 1 in Telugu: ‘Gumrah’, ‘Aankh Micholi’, ‘Last Stories 2’. In late 2023, she worked in her 2nd Telugu movie ‘Hai Nanna’ opposite actor Nani. She acted in her 3rd Telugu movie of her career, ‘The Family Star’ opposite Vijay Deverakonda in 2024. The movie flopped at the box office. Later, Mrinal Thakur worked in the movie ‘Pooja Meri Jaan’.
