Sharan is an Indian Kannada actor, playback singer, and producer. He made his debut in the film industry in the 1990s. After his debut, he continued to act in various comedy movies and side roles. He gained immense popularity in the 2000s and got a chance to play the lead role in the movie ‘Rambo’.

Early life
Sharan was born on 6 February 1972 in a theatre family. Her grandparents and parents worked in Gubbi Theatre. Sharan has a younger sister. She was interested in music since childhood but her parents pushed her into acting. Sharan’s acting journey started with a television serial aired on Doordarshan. She then worked in numerous TV serials. Later, director S. Mahendra offered her a small comedy role in the film ‘Karpurda Gombe’.
Career
Early Career
Sharan started his acting journey in 1996 with a small role in the movie ‘Karpurda Gombe‘ directed by S. Mahendra. He has since worked in more than 100 movies as a comedy and supporting actor. He gained recognition as a comedian in films like ‘Friends’ (2002), ‘Monalisa’ (2004), ‘Jothe Jotheali’ (2006), ‘Pallakki’ (2007), ‘Malayali Jotheali’ (2009)
2012 – Present
Sharan played the lead role in the 2012 and 2013 films ‘Rambo’ and ‘Victory’. Both films were commercially successful and received critical acclaim for his acting.
In 2014, he played a supporting role in the film ‘Manikya’. In the comedy film ‘Jai Lalita’, he played a comedic role as well as a female role, although the film did average business at the box office. Towards the end of the year, his film ‘Aadyaaksha’ was released. The 2013 Tamil film ‘Varuthpadath Valivar Sangam‘ was remade in which Sharan played the role of Chandrasekhar Gowda. The film became one of the biggest commercial successes of 2014 and received positive reviews from critics.
In 2015, Sharan played the role of Bottle Mani in the film ‘Raja Rajendra’. Although he performed well, the film received mixed reviews. He played a dual role in the comedy film Bullet Basya. He sang the song “Kal Keji Kallekai” in the film. The film received mostly negative reviews from critics. Bangalore Mirror wrote about Sharan’s performance, “Sharan has almost overdone it in search of comedy, but has done justice to both the characters.” He works as a playback singer in ‘Raja Rajendra’, ‘Vajrakaya’, ‘Bullet Basya’ on 2015 and ‘Dana Kayonu’ on 2016 .
